Install DinoLink on Android

Direct APK or Play Store — the choice depends on whether the listing is reachable from where you are.

DinoLink on Android comes from two sources: the Google Play listing (when reachable) and a direct APK download. The direct APK is what we recommend inside Russia because the Play listing has been intermittently filtered there.

Option 1 — Direct APK

  1. Open a browser and visit dinolink.io/download (or one of our mirror domains if the main one is unreachable).
  2. Tap the Android APK button. The file is signed by us; the signature is checked against the same key for every release.
  3. Android will warn you about installing from an unknown source. Approve once for your browser app — the warning is the OS being cautious, not a problem with the APK.
  4. Open the downloaded file and tap Install.
  5. Launch DinoLink. Sign in or create an account on first launch. Grant the VPN permission when the system prompt appears.

Option 2 — Google Play

  1. Search “DinoLink” on Google Play.
  2. If you see the listing: tap Install. (If you don’t see it, it’s been filtered for your region — use the APK route instead.)
  3. Launch and sign in as above.

Permissions explained

  • VPN service. Required. Without this, the tunnel can’t be created.
  • Foreground service / notification. Required for Always-On VPN behavior. The notification is how Android keeps the tunnel alive when the screen is off.
  • Battery optimization exemption. Optional but recommended. Some Android skins kill background services aggressively, which causes the tunnel to drop when you switch apps.

Troubleshooting

  • “App not installed” error after APK install. You probably already have an older DinoLink installed from a different signing key. Uninstall the old version first.
  • Tunnel connects but no traffic flows. Check that no other VPN client is running — Android only allows one active VPN connection at a time.
  • Captive portal issues at hotels or airports. Pause DinoLink, sign in to the portal, then re-enable.
