Ad shield

Block the noise before it loads.

Ad Shield blocks most common ad domains and some tracker domains at the DNS level, right on our servers. It works for every DinoLink user by default — nothing to install, nothing to set up.

The problem

Most of the web you load
isn't the web you wanted.

Ads and trackers ride along on nearly every page — slowing things down, draining your battery, and watching where you go.

01

Pages that crawl

Ad and tracker scripts pile extra requests onto nearly every page and slow loading down, especially on mobile. Every page, every visit.

02

Battery you never spent

Ad scripts run in the background long after you scroll past. They can quietly draw a meaningful share of your daily battery.

03

Data you paid for

Part of your mobile data goes to ads you never asked to see — downloaded on your dime, then discarded.

04

Quiet tracking

Trackers follow you across sites and apps, stitching together a behavioural profile in the background — no click required.

The fastest request is the one that's never made.

So we stop ad lookups at the DNS layer, before a connection ever opens.
How it works

Filtered at the DNS layer,
not bolted onto your browser.

Domain lookups that go through DinoLink are answered by our servers' DNS — and that's where common ad domains get filtered out.

01

Resolve

When an app whose traffic goes through DinoLink asks where a domain lives, the lookup is answered by the DNS our servers provide, encrypted with DoH / DoT by default, instead of your network's resolver.

02

Filter

Common ad domains and some tracker domains are matched against blocklists on our servers and simply not resolved. The connection never opens, so nothing downloads.

03

Deliver

Everything else resolves as usual. Pages come back with fewer ads, less clutter, and less tracking along the way.

Why network-level

Ad Shield vs a browser extension.

An extension only sees one browser tab. Ad Shield works one layer down, at DNS — so it covers apps whose traffic goes through DinoLink, not just a browser.

FAQ

Ad Shield, answered.

Rarely. The blocklists target ad and tracker domains, not the parts of a site you actually use. If a site or app misbehaves while you are connected, contact our in-app support and tell us which one.
Yes, for traffic that goes through DinoLink. Filtering happens when a domain is looked up, so it doesn't matter whether the request comes from a browser, a video app, a social feed, or a game.
No. Ad Shield runs on our servers and applies to every DinoLink user at no extra charge. There's no switch in the app and nothing to configure.
No. It blocks most common ad domains, but ads served from the same domains as the content itself — and some Google ad and analytics domains — can still get through.
No. Blocked domains are simply never resolved, so that content doesn't download at all. There's no in-page script doing work as you scroll.
Yes. Many ad domains double as trackers. Dropping them at the DNS layer means less of your activity is shared with advertising and analytics networks in the first place. Note that the DNS resolver the app uses records the domains looked up and a truncated IP address (the first two parts of an IPv4 address), and keeps them for 7 days.

A lighter, quieter web — for every user.
